Alicia Zaldivar

Alicia Zaldivar is a 4th year Painting major and New Media minor at the Alberta University of the Arts. Born and based in Calgary, her practice is grounded in expressive, gesture-driven painting and mixed material exploration. Working across traditional and digital mediums, Zaldivar approaches new media as a way to extend and recontextualize painterly processes rather than replace them. Her interdisciplinary work moves fluidly between physical and technological forms, maintaining a strong commitment to the tactile and embodied qualities of painting. Zaldivar has exhibited works in group and solo shows across Calgary and Halifax Nova Scotia.
